Hope For Nature: ten years of turning awareness into action
From tree planting in 2016 to Together for Wildlife in 2026, how one community project kept growing.
Hope For Nature started in 2016 as a three-and-a-half-month project: an awareness campaign at TAR UC on global warming, deforestation, reforestation and recycling, followed by tree planting. It is listed among the winners of the JCI Malaysia Sustainable Development Award under SDG 13, Climate Action.
The project kept coming back. In 2025 it moved into a shopping mall, where families already are: Sunway Velocity Mall in Cheras, on 27 July, with colouring sessions and a demonstration of turning waste into fertiliser. The Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation took part and spoke about conservation work in the palm oil industry.
In 2026 the focus shifts to wildlife, under the title Together for Wildlife.
Why it matters to members
Each edition hands a new project chair the same challenge with different conditions: a new theme, new partners, a new venue. That is how a recurring project becomes a training ground.
