JCI Kuala Lumpur was initiated in 1953 and formed in 1954 as the first Junior Chamber chapter in Malaysia. Seven decades on, it still does what it was built to do: give young people real responsibility early, and the support to handle it.
Who we are.
A leadership development organisation for people aged 18 to 40, run by its members. Each year members elect a new Board, choose a direction and deliver projects across JCI’s four Areas of Opportunity.
Members come from start-ups, corporates, professional firms, family businesses and the public sector. What they share is a preference for doing over watching.
Our purpose.
To give young people opportunities to lead, and to make Kuala Lumpur better while they learn.
Every project is two things at once: a service to the city, and a training ground for the people running it.

Formed in 1954, JCI KL is where Junior Chamber in Malaysia began.

1953
Initiated
JC Frank Wakerman initiates a Junior Chamber in Kuala Lumpur.
1954
Formed: Malaysia’s first chapter
JCI Kuala Lumpur is formed, led by President JC Wong Peng Tuck: the first Junior Chamber chapter in Malaysia.
1984
Asia Pacific Conference, again
For its 30th anniversary, JCI KL hosts the JCI Asia Pacific Conference at Genting Highlands. Conference Director: JCI Sen. Larry Koh.
2022
Best of the Best, NATCON Kuching
Recognised at the JCI Malaysia National Convention under President Thomas Chin.
2024
Best of the Best, NATCON Sabah
Recognised at the JCI Malaysia National Convention under President Chris Teng.

JCI’s 2026 President is Alejandra Castillo of JCI Bolivia, with the theme Lead. Connect. Evolve. The 80th JCI World Congress takes place in Clark, Philippines, from 11 to 15 November 2026.
